"Voices From The River." This song is inspired from a fragment of a melody I heard from a Lass who lives up on the Yukon River in Alaska. She learned it as a child from her grandmother.

'Bluer Than Black.' Written to cheer up a friend on a sadder day than most, "tis' always darkest before the dawn" might sum things up nicely here. Mostly A A B A but with a longer bridge than normally found in the 32 bar form. The mp3 playback file leaves off repeats.

"Goodbye Again." For those who believe that' it is better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all ...' "Goodbye Again" is a .

"Tuxy." Written for one frisky kitten of a cat named Tuxy, who really was quite an adventurous soul, she had a bounce in her silent steps that was as musical as heck and her mischievous ways was her natural, curious soul. In its form, "Tuxy" is pure AABA although the A sections are themselves 12 bar blues forms. So a smaller form, a 12 bar blues within a bigger form, AABA.

'The Truth Is.' It is often said that composing is 10% inspiration and 90% persperation :) What is also true in the arts is that these numbers can vary according to our own muse on any given day. That we just accept the fact that some songs come together in 20 minutes and others take a couple of months is just the way it is mostly and the more we read the bio's of composers we dig, the more we'll see how true this is.

"Voices From The River." In this next idea we count on the minor 6th to set up the melody of the 'B' section of an original melody of mine. Part of the Super ~ Hoot collection of themes, this is just a simple melody that I love to play. Example 2.
